Just Because Character Sketches

This is what I do in class instead of working...
I was bored, so I drew up some twisted/post apocalyptic fairytale characters

Scarecrow (Wizard of Oz) concept
Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) concept
Alice (Alice in Wonderland) concept

I have noticed that I've gotten a lot better at drawing people since we've been doing figure drawing (which I suppose was to be expected) Faces and proportions as well. Also, most of these were drawn on the back of my assignment pages...^^ so please excuse the folds and ghost words!

Figure Stuff

Sumi ink figures.
Sequential figure drawings. 2 minutes each.

Sketchbook Face

Face close-up for sketchbook assignment. Really fast crosshatch...but I do like how the eye came out at least.

Hands and Feet

Hand and foot sketches for my sketchbook assignment. Because I'm not on-task right now...

Face sketch

Getting better at drawing faces! (I hope!) The eyes are a little wonky, but overall I feel like I'm improving. This is a sketchbook assignment done in red/ sanguine conte. Now on to another sleepless night finishing sketchbook assignments I should have done last week! :D

PROGRESS!!

Making progress..still need to do the body/dress, the skin is coming along nicely. I do feel like it's missing some life or something though. There is just something missing about it...:/ I don't know, I'll figure it out. Also, if you haven't seen it already, check out the amazing and adorable poem my two friends wrote for the blog! (at the top under the header) :)

AAHHHH, NAKED MAN!

AAHHHH, NAKED MAN!
This was the first nude model session I've done and I must say...it was sufficiently awkward...but the drawing turned out pretty nice. This was our 20 minute figure drawing for drawing II.

Old Stuff: Blue Hair!!

This is old (maybe a year old?) But I never posted it anywhere, so I thought maybe I'd post it here. I made this as a test/ guide for when I first got my hair dyed blue. Haha. And I ended up not using any of these options, but rather just getting lots of blue streaks. Now my hair is teal and I have streaks everywhere!

WIP Sketch Layer

Working on some personal art. I really wanna get back to digital painting and get waaaaayyy better at it. Only way to do that is to actually do a digital painting...! Here is the sketch layer so far. Hope I have time to get this done soon. Reference for pose from here (Sketch was all done digitally) I'll put up a process gif maybe when it's done.

Here is the full robot image that is on the back of my album design. Pencil drawing, colored in Photoshop (no inking).

Plaster cast, 5 x 5 x 5, Crayola Model Magic used for the inside shape and color. Sorry the pictures suck so much...

WIP Antlers Self Portrait

Work in progress of a piece I'm working on. Don't know when I'll have time to finish. It's going to have antlers and it will be image one in a tryptic piece. We'll see how it works out.

Some Personal Art

All I have so far is schoolwork, I need some personal artwork on here, so here ya go. Made this a couple of months ago. Vector style in Photoshop CS5.

Album Design

This was a project for my digital foundations class where we had to create a playlist with a theme and design album artwork for it. My CD is called "Love & Robots" you can listen to the playlist here

The first page-spread of the liner notes. All illustrations were hand done by me with pencil and scanned into the computer where I colored them and added my own photo-manipulations to the backgrounds. The other pages can be seen here and here

The tray liner and the back of the liner notes book. The disk design was a giant gear.

Last but not least, the cover (left) and the back cover (right). Everything was done in Photoshop and Indesign.

Sculpture for a design class project called "Mass and Void" (25% void)
It is cast out of plaster using Crayola Model Magic as the molded form (which is why it is colored that way) 5 x 5 x 5.
Observational skeleton drawing in black and white colored pencil on gray paper for my drawing II class.
